Nov 28, 1989 I left Australia for New Zealand. Arrived in Christchurch at 12:30 AM. I took 8:30 AM bus to Queenstown. The next morning I was on the Routeburn Track.
The first day I hiked to the Routeburn Falls Hut. There I saw a kea steal a bar of soap from the hut warden. The hut warden lived at the hut to collect fees and work on the trail.
