Dec 6, 1989 Started the Milford Track. I was part of a group of 40 "Freedom" hikers. Freedom hikers carried their own food, clothes and sleeping bags and stayed in designated huts each night. Hence you were spending the next few days with these same people.
In addition there were a higher class of 20 hikers who paid $600 US to stay in deluxe huts and eat gourmet meals cooked for them.
