Camino de Santiago: Logrono to San Juan de Ortega

Steve & Jorg near Ciruena

November 20, 2019 Jorg was injured and took bus to Najera. Steve and I left before 7 AM and soon found a bar for breakfast. Cold day for walking, but no rain. Had lunch of pizza at Ventosa. Just outside of Najera met Spanish pilgrims and followed them to albergue. The albergue had 3 volunteers, 2 were Canadians. About 15 pilgrims stayed there and was a nice time.

November 21, 2019 Jorg, Steve and I left about 8:00 AM. After 5 km we had a welcome coffee stop at a bar in Azofra. 3 espressos was only 3 euros. The morning was a long climb to a golf course and the site of an abandoned housing development.

Got to San Domingo de Las Calzades and found albergue. There were about 15 people in the albergue. The three of us had a great meal at a cafe run by a Hungarian woman. She and her husband had walked the camino a few years earlier and had bought the café as a way to connect to the camino.
