Europe 1979 - Germany

May 29, 1979 At 2 AM the kids finally quieted down, but at 4 AM they were raising hell again. The hostel managers would not do anything. The kids made a mess of the washroom.

I went to see the 2 castles built by the extravagant Ludwig the VI. Very impressive and many tourists. Afterwards I walked back to Fussen through the woods. Had some great cheesecake at a bakery near the railroad station.

In the evening I went out for dinner and drinks with an Aussie and a group of US Midwesterners. We were approached by a local German woman who expressed that she loved Americans. She had a scrapbook with her of Americans who had stayed at her guestroom. Her 1st husband and her son lived in the USA. She took us to her condominium where she lived with her current husband, and showed us her guestroom where she likes to have Americans stay. The guestroom had American flags (including the bedspread), a Sears towel, and more USA items. She had been to the US many times and showed us ticket stubs she had saved since 1962. She said if her current husband died, she would go to the US and live with her 1st husband.

That night the Aussie and a German traveler got on the unruly kids case and the result was a quiet night.
