October 7, 2017 It was a beautiful day for a walk and the 15 km (803 km total) was across nice country. We had to go to the west side of Hagetmau to get the code for the refuge, and then walk to the other side of the town to the refuge. Louise and I washed clothes, but we chose a very long wash cycle that took hours.
Willie arrived and late in the afternoon we went to get groceries. That evening the three of us went out for pizza and beer.

October 8, 2017 Louise &I left before 8 AM. It was cold in the morning, but a nice sunny day. As we were walking in the country, an older man asked us if we would like some coffee. We said yes and Joseph invited us in to his house. He was being visited by a social worker who prepared and delivered meals to senior citizens. He made us instant coffee and showed us postcards of other pilgrims he had also shared kindness with.
Later, we stopped for lunch in Sault de Navailles. A couple of young girls on skateboards entertained us. After 27 km (830 km total) we reached Orthez at 4PM. The refuge, Hotel de la Lune, was open and Willie was already there. It was a centuries old stone tower. We cooked dinner in the refuge kitchen.
