October 12, 2017 I mostly walked on the road, avoiding the muddy trails of GR78. After about 12 km (905 km total), I reached l Hopital St Blaise. It was a very nice day and I washed clothes, relaxed in the refuge, and took an audio tour of the 12th century church. I had planned to eat at one of the nearby two restaurants. I found that they would both close that evening, but one of the staff told me in French that she could prepare me a takeaway pilgrims meal for 10 euros. We agreed that I would come at 6 PM.
Late in the afternoon another older walker, a French man from Montpellier, arrived at the refuge. After I picked up my pilgrim meal, soup, beef, potatoes and a cr me caramel dessert, we split what I had with his cheese and wine. Luckily there was plenty food.

October 13, 2017 I was on the road before daylight. It was a pleasant day for walking. After 22 mostly flat km (927 km total), I arrived in Oloron Ste Mairie. I saw the cathedral, visited the tourist office to use internet, bought groceries for the next two days, and then found the refuge. There were a few pilgrims. I shared a room with a young Sardinian man. Had pizza for dinner.
