October 17-18, 2017 I went to the grotto in the morning and joined in an Italian mass. Masses in different languages take place throughout the day. I bought and lit a candle offering. Many visitors from around the world, including hundreds in wheel chairs.
Also did a walking tour of the city. Downtown, away from the grotto complex, is an active indoor food market. Many of the streets were filled with souvenir shops catering to religious miracle themes.
Toured the castle. Very interesting and with sensational views of the city.
