Nepal 2008 - Everest: Namche to Base Camp

Photo: Namche Bazaar street market

Namche was by far the biggest town in the Everest region. Internet access was available by satellite. Rates were 10 rupees per minute or about $8 per hour. This was 10 times more expensive than internet access in Kathmandu.

Namche street shops had many of the same tourist offerings as found in Thamel, Kathmandu. Most goods, fuel, etc were carried by porters from Jiri to Namche following the same route as I had taken over the last 7 days. Porters carried loads of 100+ pounds.
