Nepal 2008 - Annapurna: Besi Sahar to Manang

November 14-17, 2008 I spent the next 3 days resting, eating, and preparing for the Annapurna Circuit trek. I bought a bus ticket for November 17 to Besisahar.

I got to the bus station at 6:15 AM but then learned that the ticket had the wrong Nepali calendar date. The Nepali calendar differs from the calendar the rest of the world follows. I was told my bus left the previous day and I would have to buy another ticket. But after my insistence that it was not my mistake I was able to get on a bus leaving a half hour later. One of the bus employees asked if I was an Israeli. I am sure because I had been assertive instead of just paying another fare.

The bus got to Besisahar by early afternoon. From there I was able to take a short bus ride to Bhulbhule. I rode on top of the roof with two men from Denmark.

After having my Annapurna park permit stamped, I walked 40 minutes to a small lodge near Ngadi. In the short time I was there, the owner asked me to donate to his sons education and also to another unrelated memorial. I had been warned against donating to scams that Nepalis tried on generous tourists.
