Getting across the border into Peru and booking a bus to Arequipa went very quickly. Upon arrival I booked into the hostal next to the Monasterio de Santa Catalina and had two Belgian roommates.

On Wednesday, at the recommendation of the hostal manager (Rheem from Switzerland), I booked a 3 day tour of Colca Canyon with Land Adventure. My new roommates were Liz from Germany and Han from South Korea.
