May 22, 1992 Took a bus to Puno, Peru. Stayed at Hostal Europa. When I arrived a man offered to book me on a boat to Isla Taquile for $15.00. I didn t bite, and the next day I found out that $7.00 was the going rate. Saw some soccer.

May 24, 1992 Went to the docks at 7:30 AM to find a boat to Tequile in the middle of Titicaca. The small boat that left at 9:15 had about 25 people, including 7 gringos. About 45 minutes out we picked up two more passengers from a rowboat. We briefly stopped and visited the unimpressive floating islands . The boat had a leak, so a man had to bail water all the time. Luckily, we made it to the island at 1 PM.
