The second day on the Routeburn was pleasant and very scenic. Most of the trail was very high vantage point for views of the valleys below. I hiked out the third day and hitched a ride to Te Anau from two American college students. The students had left their rented car next to the trail while they had done an overnight hike. A gang of kea's had attacked the cars windshield wipers and torn the rubber from around the doors and windows.
