Camino de Santiago - Le Puy to Espalion

Photo: Metier ferrer les boeufs - used for treating oxen

I passed through a few small villages. Occasionally I would see a structure (m tier ferrer les boeufs) that I later learned was used to treat oxen in older times.

By early afternoon I reached Gite L'Estou. I was greeted by the owner, a welsh man who collected and sold antiques. He was married to a french woman who taught english. For dinner he prepared lentil soup and we drank a lot of wine. They had two daughters 15 and 17 in high school. I was the only pelerine at the gite. They had a skinny cat that caught mice, moles, etc.
