Camino de Santiago - Leon to Santiago

May 8, 2014 We walked to Ponferrada. Bernie was hurting very badly with blisters. Stayed at San Nicolas de Flue, a large nice albergue. Mary and I walked to the bus station to buy tickets for their trip to Madrid and Granada.

The weather has been mostly sunny and little or no rain, very fortunate. There are many pilgrims, but not so many that the albergues are full. I see many of the same pilgrims almost every day. A number have their backpacks transported each day by a transport service (about 5-7 euros/bag/day). Some take a bus part of the way.

May 9, 2014 After confusing beginning, trying to make it out of Ponferrada, we eventually got to Cacabelos. Stayed at strange municipal albergue. We had dinner at a local cafe, but it was unpleasant due to a group of spanish kids that were allowed to go wild.
