Photo: Grave of Bernhard Leusing (Stockmann)
April 20, 2015 I picked up my compact rental car from Europcar in Laon. From there drove to the Montaigu cemetery which was surrounded by the french farming countryside. It was easy to find his grave. Each cross has the names of 4 soldiers, 2 on each side.
From the cemetery I drove to Corbeny and then took the Chemin des Dames road to the Caverne du Dragon museum. The Caverne Du Dragon had been a limestone quarry for the french prior to the war. The German army used it for strategic and protective purposes during the war. The Chemin des Dames road was part of the military line fought over during the war.
