St Bertrand de Commings
November 4, 2019 Got an early start on a clear sky. Nice walking off the main roads and in the country.
Got to St Bertrand de Commings about 1:30 and toured the old town. Then checked into Marie's house. A local teacher who had worked in French Embassy in New York came over to translate. Marie told me the 3 French pilgrim's were there yesterday and had to stop because one of the Legion guys leg was hurting.

November 5, 2019 Booking accommodation from here to Lourdes was proving difficult and I was uncertain as to the time I had, so I decided to skip part of the chemin. I was planning on taking SNCF buses to Lourdes, but Marie had a meeting in Lourdes today and offered me a ride.
She had a small Fiat with manual transmission. Behind the wheel she ( in her 70's) was a different person, very aggressive, riding on people's bumpers.
I stayed the night at the Ruch refuge, along with an Argentinian pilgrim, Nicholas. As we were waiting for the manager, two of the French pilgrims walked by. They were leaving the next day. Nicholas and I had a nice meal with the manager there.
