Road on the Meseta
November 27, 2019 It was windy when I started at 8 AM but not too cold or raining. At Hontanas I stopped for a coffee. I got to Castrojeriz about 12:30 and checked into the municipal albergue. I was the first one there, but about 15 more arrived in next 5 hours. Many Spanish from prior nights lodging, but also Canadian, Irish, Swiss, and Italian guy with dog. The manager had left after he checked me in and did not return until about 5 hours later. He was surprised there were so many as the previous day there were only two pilgrims
I had a simple microwave dinner. Not many open restaurants and grocery stores had limited goods. I think Nickolas from Argentina went to next town, because I did not see him all day. I had difficulty sleeping as many of the large group were partying until midnight. Normally there are albergue rules of lights out and silence after 10 PM.
