Cruz de Ferro
December 7, 2019 We left before 8:00 and walked with Josef from Brazil to the Cruz de Ferro. It was a very nice calm day. The Cruz de Ferro (iron cross) is the highest point on the Camino at over 1500 meters. Many pilgrims carry rocks or other personal tributes to place around the cross. It is a highlight of the entire journey.
The rest of the day was a bit slow because it was rocky downhill sections. At Molinaseca Steve and I found the Senor Oso albergue but it was closed. We then saw Josef and walked another km to the municipal albergue. No one was there, but it was open so we selected a bed. Later Laura showed up and then Grace and Maddie.
Around 8 PM the Italians arrived, including Little John the dog. The manager showed up and checked in most everyone. Laura played her ukulele and sang for us. Grace got very sick and had a rough night.
