Camino de Santiago: Portomarin to Santiago

Santiago cathedral in distance

December 18, 2019 Left in the dark early as heavy rain was predicted. Though overcast and windy it did not rain in the morning. I made good time and got to Santiago about noon. I found the pilgrims office and got my compestello. Then was able to check in early at The Last Stamp albergue.

Steve and a few of the Italian/Spanish group were also there. My bed was randomally assigned, but Nicholas from Argentina, who I met in Lourdes on November 5 is in the bunk above me. We met then with a common destination of Santiago in mind and literally end up in the same space and same time.

At 2 PM Steve and I met Laura and gave her the stick. Her boyfriend had done the carving on the stick, so it has great sentimental value to her. In the afternoon it rained heavily at times. I got soaked though I was outside only shortly. I watched Barcelona and Real Madrid play a "classico" at a nearby bar. Ended 0-0.
