May 9, 1979 I saw the upper falls then took the bus to Zagreb. There was a lot of mail at the Zagreb post office. I then went to the hostel, but it was full, so I would look for Yada and Darkos house.

Yada, an English school teacher, is a cousin of Annette, friend of mine in the USA. Darko is Yada s husband. They had no phone. A student offered to help me find their house, but we made some wrong choices and walked about 4 miles in our search. When I finally found them, they had been expecting me and gave me a warm welcome.
It was great to have a place to stay, it felt very homey. They had a 20 month old daughter, Eva. She was very shy at first but later got used to me. She was very intelligent and spoke in sentences and sang songs.
After losing my credit cards in Rome, I had arranged for the replacement card to be sent to Yada. My new credit card was there when I arrived.
