May 21, 1979 I took a time consuming trip to Vienna by train, arriving at 1:30 PM. I checked into the Dom Bosco hostel, a tall tower. Periodically, when a church bell would ring, the tower would start to shake and parts of the hostel ceiling would fall to the floor.

May 22, 1979 I got money from the Bank of America. On a whim I decided to purchase a Pan Am London to Detroit one way ticket for the week of June 17-23. I did not yet have a return ticket back. I had planned on taking a Freddy Laker DC10 instead.
I saw an orchestra play in the park. Most shops in Austria seem overstaffed. I was told it s done to reduce unemployment.
