Jun 5, 1979 I saw part of Alpirsbach then took a train to Heidelberg. I managed to get into a full popular hostel. I went drinking with some Irish workers and tried a Raddler (beer and lemonade). The Irish had come to Germany to pick asparagus but had recently quit because they had to work 18 hours a day. Ordinarily Yugoslavs performed cheap German labor, but the Irish economy was weak and manual labor in Germany was a way for young Irish to earn some money.

Jun 6, 1979 I saw the castle and well known churches in Heidleberg. Also toured the shops. For the first time in quite a while I saw a punker with black leather jacket and a safety pin through his cheek. Also took a walk along Philosophers Way, high above the city.
