Photo: Greensted Church
Jun 17, 1979 I followed a busy road to Ongar. There I saw the Greensted Church, supposedly the oldest wood church in the world, built in the 9th century. One of the visitors had signed the guest register, Sid Vicious, Hell.
In late afternoon had tea and cakes at a country flower show. The hostel at Epping Forest was closed, so I kept going. After 25 miles I camped in the woods outside Laughton.
