October 1, 2017 It was a cold, windy day with a little rain. Also the first day of hunting and we did hear some shooting in the distance. We arrived in Bazas in the early afternoon after walking 17 km (685 km total). We stayed in a large room in a building next to the chateau.
Bernie, Louise and I went downtown to see the sights and have a coffee. The church had a rustic display at the front door that was in support of the local hunters. That evening the owners served a great paella dinner to us and a couple from Brittany, France.

October 2, 2017 It was drizzling lightly in the morning. We followed an old railroad bed for much of the day and arrived in Capitieux after walking 18 km (703 km total). We went to the Mairie and a staff member showed us where the nearby refuge was. We dried out with the help of a shoe drier.
We had planned on eating at a bar/restaurant, but they all closed by 7 PM. Luckily we were able to buy groceries for dinner from the only food market, which also closed at 7 PM. A French pilgrim showed up in the evening and took one of the bunks.
