October 14, 2017 Had breakfast at a bakery, then headed out of town into country. Much of the morning was on muddy forest trails. Had coffee at Ogeh les Bains. Also met a young Brazilian man that had met Alexander, the snoring Brazilian.
As I was passing thru Buziet, some shepards were herding sheep and I briefly helped when they started to go the wrong way. In Buzy the village had an outdoor party. After 27 km (954 km total), I reached Bescat and checked into the B&B there at 5 PM. Bescat was on a hill with a great view of the Pyrenees. The B&B was run by Kathyrin (German) and Michael.

October 15, 2017 Had a great breakfast with my hosts. The country roads were mostly quiet on this Sunday morning. While walking next to farm field I stopped to take a photo. As I got ready to leave I noticed a wallet placed on a fence post next to me. It was for a young French guy, with French id, bank cards, money, etc. I took it with me expecting to turn it in to Lourdes police the next day. About a kilometer later, I stopped at Mifaget, a nearby village, to eat lunch on church steps. Soon a young French pilgrim comes by who speaks good English. I ask him about what to do with wallet. He says it is best to contact the local mayor. We ask a woman in a car about the mayor and she points to a large house next to the church. We knock on the door and the woman mayor opens the door. After discussion the mayor takes the wallet and will initiate contact, though the guy is not a local. She was very nice and offered us food and to sell us cheese. About every farm here seems to have cheese.
I got to Asson at 2:30 PM and found the refuge and the woman who was to meet me at 4 PM. I had walked 23 km (977 km total), I was assigned a room with a kitchen, shower, and two beds. A Brazilian family of 3 had another room. Because the Brazilians had no kitchen they asked to use mine to prepare lunch. They were walking from Lourdes to Pamplona.

October 16, 2017 I left at 6:45 AM and walked about an hour in the dark on hilly, forest paths. After reaching Lestelle Betharram, the route followed the river and was mostly flat. The last few kilometers of the 20 km day (997 km total) was on a leaf covered forest trail. Shortly before Lourdes I met a German couple who were asking about the trail I had just walked. They were tourists on a day hike.
I checked into the St Christophe hostel where I would stay the next 3 nights.
