November 16, 1983 Had a huge bowl of granola, fruit, honey, and yogurt for breakfast. At my motel lived a 67 year old American who had retired in Panachula. He occasionally went back to the US to visit relatives. I cashed a travelers check with him.
A favorite place to eat in Panachula was a hangout for hippies called "The Last Resort". A four course meal cost less than $2.00. At the restaurant I talked to the same French man that helped me in Mexico City. As seems to be common with other Guatemalan restaurants, dogs are free to wander in to sit and beg at your table.
White women in skimpy clothes are featured in many poster and billboards. Spanish or Indian women are only seen in traditional clothes.
