November 3, 2023 I had an omelot for breakfast before we hit the trail at 8 AM. I accidently got some sunscreen in my eye. It bothered me all day. We stopped at a shrine area next to large wide waterfalls. Very spectacular falls.
We moved onto Himalaya and stopped for lunch and (surprise) a really great latte. After lunch we climbed additional steep steps that eventually got us to Deurali about 1:30 PM. It rained and became much cooler. Had a really great tomato cheese speghetti dinner.
We talked to a man from a large Malaysian group. They were trying to do a 9 day trek in only 7 days and some of their older members were having a hard time keeping up.
I had done this trek in 2008 and at that time there was no electricity, but there were stoves burning wood and yak dung that warmed the dining room. Now they have electricity, but the stoves are gone and there is no alternative heat. So it is colder now. We became known as the door police or door nazis because we were always telling people to close the dining room door in order to preserve any heat inside.
