Photo: Photo: See You Lodge at Kalapani
Sep 29, 1993 A young boy followed us for the first two hours. The trail was steadily uphill. The boy left us at a village, where he attends school. Soon after he left us, a young girl follows us to Chasa. The trail becomes very steep as it passes through a deep canyon. Many landslides on both sides of the canyon have destroyed portions of the trail. Although staying in Ghasa was an option, we decide to skip the bleak looking village and continue to Kalapani. We share the hotel with the fast German man we had met in Pokhara and a Netherlands couple. A delicious dinner is served on a covered table. Underneath the table are hot coals that provide welcome heat.

Sep 30, 1993 Today was a relatively easy walk to Marpha. We saw many ripe apples still on the orchard trees. The new Trans-Himalayan Hotel was our accommodation.
Oct 1, 1993 Jomson was an easy one day walk from Marpha. We stayed at the Mona Lisa Hotel. Other hotels also had posters of the Mona Lisa on the wall. I asked one hotel owner why the Mona Lisa? She said "Because they were on sale in Pokhara. Is the Mona Lisa one of your western goddesses?"
