Wednesday, June 15, 1988 Our campsite offered some good early morning sunlight. Rick gave some bread to a guide who passed by with some mules. The trail led down the valley, following a stream, in the afternoon, we reached the village of Colcabamba, where we bought cokes and sugar (for cocoa) from Mrs. Calonge. She had lost her husband the previous year. We hiked up the next valley and camped in a boggy meadow next to a swift stream.
