Thursday, June 16, 1988 The morning hike through the broad meadows was a real pleasure. We met two young ladies and 3 children who were fun to talk to. They said Americans and Germans were generous, but not Israelis. Soon we had a leasurely lunch, bathtime, and a laundry session next to a stream. At that time we met a California couple hiking, also without burros. They were the only group we encountered that did not use porters or burros. Eventually we found a campsite in a nice spot a few kilometers from Punta Union.
