Alexander Column in Palace Square
April 28, 1996 Dick and I went on a walk on a very pleasant sunny day. We saw many of the downtown sights and Nevski Prospect. Peter took us to a local cafe/bar for a simple Russian meal, a thick soup with Russian bread. Actually I think it was the best and cheapest meal I had the whole month.
April 29, 1996 Alexander picked me up at 5:15 AM and drove me to the airport. On the way the GAI (police) stopped us and checked Alexanders papers. Going through customs and passport control was very easy. 20 hours later I was in Houston.
