Spain 2001 - Camino de Santiago

Photo: Pilgrims refugio in Melide

May 30, 2001 It was a cool morning. Much of the morning walk was in a smoky fog that drifted over the hilly countryside. In Palais del Rei I had lunch and an espresso. The barkeeper insisted in putting some extra spirits in the coffee. Although it was good, it ruined an otherwise perfect espresso.

I arrived in Melide about 3:30 PM, after walking 25 miles. It was a day when, despite the afternoon heat, walking had become easier for some reason. In Melide I was able to find a cybercafe and a pizza place. Unfortunately, my bunk was next to two very loud snorers. I moved into the refugio lounge and slept fitfully on an uncomfortable couch.
