June 20, 2001 From the hut to Benesque was an easy walk on a gravel road. I needed a rest so I found a room at a pension and ate a couple of cafe meals. I met 2 British walkers who were headed in the opposite direction, so we did a map trade.

June 21, 2001 I took my time getting ready and did not leave until 10:00 AM. Even then I got to my destination at 1:30 PM, and decided to go on since there was so much time left in the day. I got over the Puerto de Gistain (8,500 feet) and continued on. In early evening I found a great site next to an emergency hut just above the trail. It was the best camp site I had.
