June 27, 2001 Traveled to nearby Cuenca. The next day I toured the "hanging houses".
June 29, 2001 Took the early bus to Madrid. Many of the pensions were full already at noon, but I soon found a cheap room. I found a self serve laundry and washed clothes. Later I observed a large downtown crowd watching a drunk or drugged young man on a high window ledge threatening to jump. I did not wait to witness the outcome.
The next day I toured the Reina Sofia museum that displays Picasso's Guernica. In the evening, I saw a huge gay/lesbian parade pass through the Plaza del Sol.
