Spain 2024 - Albergue San Nicolas de Flue

The daily number of pilgrims varied from 20 to 40. Many pilgrims were from Spain, France, Italy, United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany, Japan, Hungary, United States and Canada. A few came by bicycle, including electric bikes.

We had 5 pilgrims show up with a horse drawn wagon. They stayed overnite, with the horses grazing in the field behind the albergue. One man drove the horses while the others rode in a support car.

The Chinese man with the bike pictured below left thinking that someone had stolen his GoPro like camera, but it turned out he left it on his bed. Many pilgrims forget items and left them behind. Once I found someones dental retainers in the womens bathroom. We were able to return them to their owner after she called by sending them along with some pilgrim bikers.

I was aware of only one incident of something being stolen. On the second day I was at the albergue, someone stole my hiking shoes. I have no idea which pilgrim would have taken them.

Father Gregorio was a local 81 year old priest who knew Spanish, Portuguese, German and wanted to learn English. He asked me to help him and so we got together 4 times to learn and speak English.
