April 16, 2024 I said goodby to those at the albergue and followed the camino out of Ponferrada. I saw only one other pilgrim on my way to Villavieja. Nice views along the way and also had a coffee break in mid morning. the Villavieja albergue is an old converted schoolhouse and is very modern and clean inside. I had a code to get entry.
In late afternoon there was a knock on the door and let in two Danish guys, Lars and Lens. They had not made reservations. They were real nice guys. There was no staff at the albergue.

April 17, 2024 It was a short climb in the morning to the Castillo Corantel and great views. Then drop down and another climb to Las Medulas. Later ran into a French pilgrim and made it to Puente de Domingo Florez by early afternoon. I checked into the Casa Rosa and met another pilgrim, Tizianna from Italy. Later Lars and Lens showed up. We each had a bottom bunk in the small albergue. A Latvian women and her son ran the attractive albergue.
