On Friday morning I took the 8:30 AM bus to Huerquehue National Park, about 20 miles northeast of Pucon. The park fees were high, especially for camping. A young woman, Yeatte, took me to a cheaper private campground. Camping Olga was run by her mother, Olga. All of the other campers were Chileans.

The first day I hiked the nearby scenic trails around the lakes. The next day, I walked up the trail toward the top of San Sebastian. Though I did not go all the way to the top, I had great views of Volcan Lanin, Volcan Villarrica, and others. After returning in afternoon, I had coffee with Wolfgang, a German, and a French woman at the nearby refugio.

February 25, 2007 I took the Sunday morning bus back to Pucon. Spent a quiet day in town, watching all the tourists.
