April 28, 1992 In the morning I walked with my pack to the Plaza Libano, where I found a 10 AM bus going to Ventilla, the start of the Tequesi Trail. I did not have a seat, instead I sat on bags, etc stacked 3 foot high in the aisle of the bus. At 12:30 PM I arrived at the village of Ventilla and started hiking. I took a wrong turn at one point, but got my bearings again. Stopped at 5 PM and camped at about 13,000 ft altitude. I shared the site, near the San Francisco mine, with 3 pigs.

In the morning I hiked up to the pass, near 15,000 . There and beyond were many fine examples of stone Inca Trail. Many stretches were hundreds of meters long. Past the village of Tequesi, the vegetation became much more lush and green. For the last 3 hours I hiked along a high ridge, and camped almost on the trail, next to a loud river.
April 30, 1992 The morning hike to trails end at Chojila was along an aquaduct. Bypassing the town, at 9:30 AM I luckily got a ride on a truck headed for La Paz. Great views of the Yungas from the truck. At about 1 PM the truck dropped me off at the pass near El Cumbre.
